Quentin Snider drawing heavy interest

Quentin Snider’s family did earlier this month what families do in the summer: They went to the beach.
But for the family of the nationally acclaimed and highly regarded major college basketball prospect, this trip to Virginia Beach was a new experience.
“We hadn’t taken a regular vacation that didn’t include basketball since I would say he was 7 years old,” said Quentin’s dad, Scott, whose family has traveled around the country for years each summer, but primarily just to watch the Ballard High School (Ky.) point guard participate in camps and AAU tournaments.
It was a welcome reprieve, but still it wasn’t all down time for Quentin Snider, who has become of the nation’s best available point guards after he withdrew a longtime pledge to the University of Louisville three weeks ago.
“It was nice, but the phone pretty much rang the whole time,” Scott Snider said. “The first two days were crazy. There were a lot of phone calls, a lot of texts, but it kind of slowed down as the week went on. A lot of coaches knew we were on vacation, so they kind of backed off and it picked up again a lot on Monday when we got back.”
Since their return to Louisville, the Sniders have gotten back to the task of managing a recruitment in which Quentin has received 13 scholarship offers and interest from many more schools, including Indiana University. Now they are beginning the process of setting up campus visits.
Snider has scheduled two expense-paid, official visits to national championship-winning programs — UCLA on Aug. 31 and Connecticut on Sept. 20 — plus unofficial visits to Memphis (Sept. 7) and Illinois (Sept. 28). Additionally, Illinois’ coaches will visit the Sniders on Sept. 9.
All four of those schools made offers to Snider within a couple days of him reopening his recruitment.
Scott Snider had this to say about the teams they’ll visit:
UCLA: “It’s one of the teams that starting recruiting him. We’ve talked to the assistant coaches and (head coach) Steve Alford, and everything sounded real good with the situation.
