Posted By Mark Nugent On October 29, 2011 @ 4:00 pm In All,NBA | No Comments

With the 2011 NBA Free Agent period set to begin immediately following a labor deal, we had 15 voters rank the top names in the 2011 NBA Free Agent Class.

This group included members of the HOOPSWORLD and HoopsHype editorial teams as well as a number of NBA trainers and development coaches.

Here are the results of that survey:

NOTES:

According to our panel, four of the top six free agents are centers.

Marc Gasol had the most number 1 rankings by our panel with eight.

David West was second in number 1 rankings with five, but he also was ranked 12th by one panelist.

Marc Gasol was the only player to be ranked inside the top 5 by all voters.

Yi Jianlian had the most last place votes with eight.  T.J. Ford was next with three and Delonte West had two.

T.J. Ford was the only player ranked in the bottom six by everyone.

The highest ranked point guard by our panel is Aaron Brooks at number 12, it’s the lowest ranked position in our cumulative rankings.

Kris Humphries is ranked as high as five by one of our panelists and as low as 27 by another.  The 22-place discrepancy is the biggest differential of any player.

Wilson Chandler is ranked eighth, despite signing a deal in China that does not contain a NBA out.  For Chandler to return to the NBA before the end of the Chinese season, he will need to be let out of his current contract.  Eight is pretty high for someone who potentially can’t sign a contract in the NBA until March.
