Johnson’s tip-in helps Miami edge N.C. State
by Nicole Auerbach, USA TODAY Sports
RALEIGH, N.C. – This is why Miami missed Reggie Johnson – even if it didn’t suffer in the loss column during his absence due to injury this season.
With less than a second remaining and his team down by one point, Johnson tipped in a missed shot by Shane Larkin to put the Hurricanes up 79-78 with 0.8 seconds on the clock.
BOX SCORE: No. 15 Miami 79, No. 19 N.C. State 78
The two points were Johnson’s biggest of the day, of course, but also simply part of a 15-point, eight-rebound performance from the Winston-Salem, N.C., native.

Julian Gamble, Miami’s other North Carolina native, added 16 points. Durand Scott led all ‘Canes with 18.
The win is Miami’s ninth in a row. The Hurricanes are 8-0 in Atlantic Coast Conference play, first in the league.
N.C. State has now lost two games in a row, and the Wolfpack played Saturday’s game without starting point guard Lorenzo Brown, who was out with an ankle injury. Freshman Tyler Lewis scored 16 and played a majority of the game in Brown’s absence. He also missed a jumper that would have put the Wolfpack up by three with 10 seconds left.
