Blazers pursued Phil Jackson, Jerry Sloan
The Portland Trail Blazers pursued Hall-of-Fame coaches Phil Jackson and Jerry Sloan for their head coaching position and were spurned by both, according to a Comcast Sports Northwest report.
The Blazers offered Sloan the job this week, and pursued Jackson over the past few months, a source told Comcast Sports Northwest.
Blazers general manager Neil Olshey confirmed the team spoke with Jackson, but said, “He (Jackson) decided it wasn’t time.”
Kaleb Canales, who took over for the fired Nate McMillan last season, is the team’s interim coach.
