Report: Celtics close to deal with David West

The Boston Celtics are reportedly on the verge of signing veteran power forward David West.A source tells NBA.com that the deal was close to being finalized. Terms were not immediately known.West has averaged 16.4 points and 7.3 rebounds in eight NBA seasons, all with the Hornets. The 31-year-old is coming off surgery to repair his anterior cruciate ligament.The imminent departure of West comes as the Hornets continue to try and rework a trade with the Lakers and Hornets that would see Chris Paul wind up in Los Angeles and several players, including Luis Scola, Lamar Odom and Kevin Martin, wind up in New Orleans.
