The Dallas area probably didn’t ask a question, but it could be getting The Answer.
The Texas Legends, the NBA D-League affiliate of the Dallas Mavericks, are reportedly pursuing Allen Iverson, according to a report from Marc Stein at ESPN.com.
The third-year D-League franchise reportedly began lobbying the longtime Philadelphia 76ers guard last season and “ramped up” their pursuit of Iverson on Monday, the report says.
Iverson last played in the NBA during the 2009-10 season, appearing in 28 games in short stints with the Memphis Grizzlies and 76ers. The 37-year-old was the Rookie of the Year in 1996-97 and the MVP in 2000-01, when he led the 76ers to the NBA Finals. As Stein notes in his report, the Legends have built a reputation for helping resurrect careers. The team has signed 16 former NBA first-round picks during its three-year existence, and veterans Sean Williams, Dan Gadzuric, Chris Douglas-Roberts and Antonio Daniels have all returned to the NBA after stints with the Legends.
