Report: Magic C Howard wants trade to Nets
Orlando Magic superstar center Dwight Howard seems intent on heading to the New Jersey Nets.
Howard’s representatives told the Nets that they are his first choice and plan to ask for a trade, ESPN reported on Friday.
The three-time Defensive Player of the Year, Howard will become a free agent after the 2011-12 season if he does not sign a contract extension.
The Magic lost to the Atlanta Hawks last season in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs. Orlando has reached the NBA Finals in 2009 and lost in the Eastern Conference finals the following season.
Howard has spent seven seasons with Orlando, averaging 18.2 points, 12.8 rebounds and 2.2 blocks since he was selected with the No. 1 overall pick directly out of high school.
