Report: NBA teams to play 2 preseason games

The NBA is working on a preseason schedule where each team will play only two games.

According to the New York Times, each team will face the same opponent – at home and away – to minimize travel time.

Pairings have yet to be determined, but most will be based on geography, such as the New York Knicks taking on the New Jersey Nets and both Los Angeles teams – the Lakers and Clippers – facing one another.

Training camps are scheduled to open Dec. 9 and a 66-game regular season will get underway on Christmas Day.

The owners and players still must ratify the new labor deal that shut the league down for five months.
