Denver Nuggets guard J.R. Smith injured his knee while playing for his Chinese team Zheijang this past weekend.

The Denver Post reported that Smith appeared to jam his leg while attempting to go for a pass during Zheijang’s season opener on Sunday. Smith limped off the court in obvious pain and will undergo an MRI on his knee, Yahoo! Sports reported.

With the NBA mired in a prolonged work stoppage, Smith elected to play in the Chinese Basketball Association.

Smith, 26, averaged 12.3 points and 2.2 assists for the Nuggets last season.
