Report: Calhoun eyes return on March 3
University of Connecticut men’s basketball coach Jim Calhoun plans to return on March 3 against Pittsburgh, provided his back surgery on Monday goes according to plan, ESPN.com reported on Saturday.
The Hall of Famer has been on medical leave since Feb. 3. because of spinal stenosis. The 69-year-old Calhoun will miss Saturday’s contest versus Syracuse and Tuesday’s tilt against Providence.
After the team plays Pittsburgh, the Big East Tournament is on tap – beginning March 6.
The Huskies are 17-10 overall, but just 7-8 in the conference. The team is 3-3 with Calhoun on the sideline.
