The NBA and its players’ association are back to the bargaining table in an effort to avoid cancelling further games, according to a report on Yahoo! Sports. The two sides resumed talks Tuesday and are continuing into Wednesday, according to a pair of sources close to the situation. The report went on to say that a status report on the negotiations was expected later in the day.Owners and the now-dissolved union ceased negotiations after the players overwhelmingly rejected the league’s final offer. Decertification proceedings began almost immediately, putting the entire season in jeopardy. The two sides have been embroiled in a tense relationship as they work to hammer out a new collective bargaining agreement. The standoff has already resulted in the cancellation of the first six weeks of regular-season games, and further delays threaten the entire season.Theleague and union remain apart on several key issues, including the division of basketball-related income (BRI). The league’s final offer contained a 50-50 split, while the players have said they would only accept such a division if the owners relented on other issues, including the mid-level exception and the luxury tax.
