The Rhode Island Rams fired head coach Jim Baron Sunday.Baron, who still had two-years remaining on his contract, led Rhode Island to a 7-24 record this season, including a 4-12 record inside the Atlantic 10.Baron made five NIT appearances since taking over the Rams in 2001. He had reached 20 wins in six seasons but never made the NCAA Tournament. According to ESPN, URI doesn’t have the money to buy out Baron’s contract and will need to use independent funds.
