Richardson ‘Struggling’ with Ball Touches
Magic shooting guard Jason Richardson made his name in the NBA as a high-flyin’ dunk champion and a prolific scorer.
At 31, J-Rich has moved into a new phase of his 11-year career, arriving at a point in which he doesn’t have the ball in his hands as much in Orlando.
“I think I’m struggling with that right now,” he said after Saturday’s practice.
Richardson, who arrived in a trade in December 2010 from the Phoenix Suns, is averaging a career-low 11.1 points per game and shooting just 41 percent from the field and 37 percent from 3-point land.
Richardson is not the focal point of the offense, not with all-star center Dwight Howard manning the middle. He’s just another scorer on a starting unit full of scorers, perhaps making him less aggressive as he waits for his chances.
