The Dallas Mavericks have reached a deal to keep coach Rick Carlisle, the club announced Tuesday.

Carlisle, 52, led the Mavericks to the only championship in franchise history last season, but the younger Oklahoma City Thunder swept them out of the first round this postseason.

“We are excited that Rick will be back with the Mavericks for at least the next four years,” owner Mark Cuban said in a statement. “He is a proven winner, a great teacher and a coach that will help the Mavericks improve as a team and as an organization.”

Carlisle has gone 198-114 (.635) in four seasons with Dallas, including three with 50-plus wins. The Mavericks were 36-30 in this 66-game, lockout-shortened season and were the seventh seed from the Western Conference.
