The agent for Rajon Rondo refuted claims that the Boston Celtics guard was physically involved in an incident at a night club prior to his charity basketball game last weekend.

Agent Bill Duffy told the Boston Herald that Rondo had no role in the brief scuffle that resulted in the arrest of Eric Valarezo, 31, of Havervill (Mass.).

“Rajon Rondo was not involved in the reported incident that occurred last Friday night at a Boston (area) night club,” Duffy said in a statement. “Any reports regarding my client that have surfaced related to this are false.

“It’s unfortunate that this has overshadowed the positive aspect of the charity basketball game hosted by Rajon and those benefiting from the event. No further comment will be made about this moving forward.”

Rondo was exiting a nightclub in Lowell (Mass.) when Valarezo allegedly attempted to punch him, the newspaper reported.

Members of Rondo’s entourage – including Josh Smith of the Atlanta Hawks and Rudy Gay of the Memphis Grizzlies – wrestled Valarezo to the ground to end the threat, The (Lowell) Sun reported.

Valarezo was charged with disorderly conduct after the incident.

Rondo joined Smith, Gay, Celtics teammate Paul Pierce and others in the Boston Charity Classic, an exhibition which raised money for three local charities.
