Third-year guard Patty Mills plays around 10 minutes per game for the San Antonio Spurs, thus giving him plenty of time to craft and perfect his towel-waving technique. The former Saint Mary’s star and Australia native is the new star of a viral video that breaks down 10 of the most popular towel-waving methods. We rank them:

10. The Slapper – Too Dukie.

9. The Pirate — Could use a good “aaaargh.”

8. The Smoke Alarm — That’s the way you’d wave a towel if your pot roast caught on fire, but I think it’s a little too hard if you’re fanning Manu Ginobili on a hot streak.

7. The Propeller – He pronounces it “propellah” which only makes me want to hang out with Patty Mills and ask him questions about life.

6. The Zorro – A+ for the idea, B- for the execution. That first one looks like an “M.”

5. The Ninja – The great Trey Kerby ranked this as No. 1, which means I had to move it higher on my list because — what, I’m going to doubt Trey Kerby on matters like NBA towel-waving? NOT ON YOUR LIFE, BUB.

4. The Holster When Sitting Down — Keep those muscles warm. (Initially, I thought he said “Hulkster” and thought he was going to rip off his shirt. Was bitterly disappointed when I realized it was “holster.”)

3. The Chopper – A classic. Petey Pablo approves.

2. The Holster When Giving High Fives – Put it on safety, then flip it over your shoulder. That’s just good sense.

1. The Sweeper – Any motion that makes it look like you’re in the World Series of Dice is a motion I can get on board with.
