Saunders: We’re Competing at High Level

But even as John Wall continued his inspired run of late — coming close to a triple-double with 27 points, a season-high 10 rebounds and seven assists — the Wizards couldn’t avoid a 100-94 loss to the undermanned Celtics.
“We’ve gotten to the point where 10 days ago, we weren’t competing at a high level,” Coach Flip Saunders said after his team suffered another close loss at home. “We’ve gotten to the point now where we’re competing at a high level. Now we’ve got to find a way to close out these games like we did close out against Oklahoma City.”
The Celtics provided the Wizards (2-14) with an opportunity to steal their first win in three tries against the team, as Rajon Rondo missed his second game with an injured right wrist. Ray Allen then came up limp in the second quarter with a jammed left ankle and missed the remainder of the game.
