The Southern Methodist Mustangs fired men’s basketball head coach Matt Doherty on Tuesday after six seasons.Doherty led the team to 13-19 record this season and is 80-109 in his tenure at SMU.Doherty served as head coach at North Carolina from 2000-2003 and was named national coach of the year in 2000.SMU ended its season Wednesday with a 74-56 loss to Marshall in the Conference USA tournament.
