Sources: Malone Interested in Blazers
Golden State Warriors’ assistant coach, Michael Malone, is viewed by most as the hottest head coaching candidate out on the market. CSNNW.com has learned that Malone would have a great deal of interest in the Portland Trail Blazers head coaching position, according to multiple sources.
When pressed, his agent, Steve Kauffman, who does not like to discuss these matters publicly, admitted that Portland is a prime situation for any potential head coach.
“The Blazers have great ownership, it’s a beautiful diverse city and probably has the best fans in the NBA,” Kaufman told CSNNW.com.
Malone, 39, was named the best assistant coach in the league in an NBA.com GM survey. He has interviewed for the Charlotte Bobcats head coaching vacancy and will be looked at by the Orlando Magic shortly.
