Spurs Waive Josh Powell
The Spurs will enter the regular season with a 14-man roster after waiving Josh Powell, the team’s last remaining free agent, following Friday’s 100-85 victory over Washington.
Powell, a six-year veteran, outlasted five other candidates — one of whom, Eddy Curry, had 11 points, seven rebounds and three blocks against Charlotte on Friday after being picked up by Dallas.
But it wasn’t enough to secure the 15th and final roster spot despite averaging 5.8 points and 3.8 rebounds in six preseason appearances. Powell missed his only field goal attempt in garbage time of Friday’s victory.
