Suns Exercise Options on Plumlee, Morris Twins
The Suns exercised 2014-15 contract options on center Miles Plumlee and twin forwards Markieff and Marcus Morris, the trio that could make up their starting frontcourt this season.
The choice to pick up Plumlee’s $1.17 million option for the 2014-15 season was the easiest. Plumlee, a second-year player, has an affordable contract and made impressive progress since arriving in August to make the Suns feel comfortable with starting him in Gortat’s absence.suns
Markieff and Marcus Morris are third-year players with options worth $3.15 million and $3.11 million, respectively. Markieff solidified the starting power forward spot during training camp and will be a full-year starter for the first time if he holds on to the job. He averaged 11.8 points and 6.9 rebounds last season. Marcus, who joined the Suns in February, has been in competition for small foward time wtih P.J. Tucker and Gerald Green but is expected to have a more regular role than he did late last season, when he averaged 5.7 points in 23 appearances.
