Due to concerns about the weather, Friday night’s basketball game between No. 9 Syracuse and No. 20 San Diego State has been moved to Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. ET.

The game, called the “Battle on the Midway,” will take place on the aircraft carrier USS Midway in San Diego. There had been rumors of moving the game indoors because of the weather forecast, which features a high probability of rain and winds.

Instead, organizers and both institutions simply agreed to move the event back by two days to keep it outdoors.

“We remain committed to this once-in-a-lifetime experience for our student-athletes and our fans,” Syracuse athletic director Dr. Daryl Gross said in a statement. “We are very sorry for the inconvenience this change may have caused our fans. The weather predictions have forced the postponement.”

The game will be televised by Fox Sports San Diego and carried on Fox Sports Regional networks. It will be the season opener for both Syracuse and San Diego State, and it will also be the third game played on an aircraft carrier during college basketball’s opening weekend. On Friday, Georgetown will play No. 10 Florida aboard the USS Bataan in Jacksonville, and Marquette will play No. 4 Ohio State on the USS Yorktown in South Carolina.
