Temple star Khalif Wyatt issued an apology and said he regretted his poor judgment after he was one of 28 arrested as part of a weekend prostitution sting in Atlantic City.
Wyatt turned 21 over the weekend and is entering his senior season. He was arrested early Sunday morning. He allegedly engaged a prostitute and also resisted officers on the scene, which included Atlantic County Sheriff’s Department personnel and FBI Task Force agents. Wyatt attempted to flee on foot but was detained.
“I apologize to my family, teammates, coaches and Temple University for the embarrassment that I have caused,” Wyatt said. “I was in Atlantic City this past weekend celebrating my 21st birthday with friends and exercised very poor judgment by allowing myself and my friends to be put in a compromising situation. I intend to cooperate with the authorities during their investigation and the legal process.”
He’s expected to be the team’s top player in 2012-13. The 6-4 guard averaged 17.1 points per game last season and was a second-team All-Atlantic 10 pick.
