The 6 best lines from Nerlens Noel’s rap video
by David Cassilo, USA TODAY Sports
When Nerlens Noel tore his ACL, Kentucky’s chances of cutting down the nets again essentially vanished.
So how is the freshman sensation passing the time? Contributing a verse to a rap song about Kentucky’s quest for a ninth national title, naturally.
On the song by Wes Grams entitled “Number 9,” Noel called on his inner-Shaq to talk about himself and his team. Here are his most memorable lines:
1. Flat top Nerlens, I’m just chilling in the post
Noel has the look of both a rapper and a basketball player. He now joins an illustrious club led by Allen Iverson and Kobe Bryant.
2. Tore my ACL, but I’ll still make it to the pros
He has a pretty bright future, regardless of injury. If only we were all so lucky.
3. Yeah that’s Calipari’s place, swagging in the ‘rari
John Calpari driving around in a Ferrari. That’s the No. 1 reason this needs a music video.
4. Made it to the tourney, so shout out Missouri
Like most teams about to hit the postseason, the first thing Noel does is make sure he recognizes Frank Haith’s crew.
5. Play for the best college team in the country
Kentucky is unranked and might not make the NCAA tournament. File this in the category of “rapper boasting.”
6. I might come back, but I don’t know yet
The big man closes it out what is arguably the biggest cliffhanger in the history of music. What will he do? I guess we need to wait for the next single.
