Carly Rae Jepsen’s hit single turned out to be the summer tune that was stuck in everyone’s heads. With the song’s infectious melody and catchy lyrics, it was is nearly impossible not to turn it up full blast when hearing it on the radio.
We’ve seen viral videos before, but Carly Rae’s catchy tune sparked more lip-syncing and parody montages than we could count. Surprisingly, some of the best viral YouTube clips featured sports figures pretending to sing the song in hilarious fashion.
Who says sports and pop music don’t go together? If this were the 1990s, Carly Rae would most certainly be one of the first few tracks on a Jock Jams CD. And some of these videos rival the Super Bowl Shuffle.
Since debuting in the states at the beginning of the year, Call Me Maybe has continually topped the charts. It’s been dubbed the “song of the summer.” And yet, with fall approaching, we’re still hearing it on the radio and we’re still seeing ridiculous lip-dub videos.
Will it ever go away? Not anytime soon. What high school marching band won’t be playing this song for homecoming? College athletic departments are even making promo Call Me Maybe videos.

Breakdown: After this clip, we have to declare the Big 10 our favorite conference. Ever. Whoever cooked up the idea for this video is brilliant, but the real props go to each school’s mascot for putting a hilarious compilation of clips together. This was a collaborative effort that features mascots ice skating, car washing and being super creepy.
