Oklahoma City Thunder guard James Harden, who was hit in the head with an elbow thrown by the Lakers’ Metta World Peace on Sunday, has not yet been medically cleared to play, coach Scott Brooks told reporters on Tuesday.
Harden received a concussion as a result of the blow, and the Oklahoman had reported on Monday that Harden would not play in the team’s final two regular-season games.
Brooks would not say whether Harden would play if he is cleared by the medical staff.
“That’s hypothetical. I don’t know,” Brooks said. “Until I find out if that is the case, I would have to think about that.”
The Thunder is locked into the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference playoffs.
The NBA has a specific set of tests a player must pass before he can return to action after sustaining a concussion.
