Timberwolves G Rubio out for season

Minnesota Timberwolves guard Ricky Rubio will miss the rest of the season and this summer’s Olympics with a torn ACL in his left knee, the team announced Saturday.”Thank you everybody for ur support. I promise I will be back soon and stronger. There is only one way to take: move forward and stay positive,” Rubio tweeted Saturday.Rubio exited Friday contest against the Los Angeles Lakers in the waning moments after injuring his left knee in a collision with Kobe Bryant. He had to be helped off the court and was in considerable pain in the locker room.

The rookie was expected to be a vital part of Spain’s bid for a gold medal at the upcoming Olympics in London, England.

The 21-year-old averaged 10.6 points and 8.2 assists in 41 games for the Timberwolves this season.
