Rubio to undergo knee surgery Wednesday

Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio will have reconstructive surgery on his injured left knee next week.The operation will take place Wednesday in Vail, Colo., with Dr. Richard Steadman.Rubio tore his anterior cruciate ligament last week with 16 seconds remaining in a game with the Los Angeles Lakers while trying to defend Kobe Bryant.Rubio will have to miss the London Olympics this summer and hopes to be back on the court in nine months time.The 21-year-old averaged 10.6 points and 8.2 assists in 41 games for Minnesota this season.
