Anointed the top high school basketball player to come around since LeBron James, Jabari Parker has begun whittling down his list of potential college destinations.

Parker, the No. 1-ranked player in the Class of 2013, posted his current top 10 via Twitter on Wednesday.

Parker’s list included BYU, DePaul, Duke, Florida, Georgetown, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan State, North Carolina and Stanford.

Notably absent is in-state Illinois.

As a junior, the Chicago Simeon product led the program to its record sixth state title — and third straight — in March. He said he’s planning to narrow the list soon. In January, Parker said he’d like to have a decision made at or near the start of the 2012-13 high school season in November.

Parker was the Gatorade National Player of the Year and Mr. Basketball in Illinois, averaging 19.5 points, 8.9 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 3.3 blocks.
