Trail Blazers cut ties with G Mills

The Portland Trail Blazers renounced their rights to Australian guard Patty Mills on Saturday.Mills went to play with the Xinjiang Tigers of the Chinese Basketball Association during the NBA lockout, but was cut by the Flying Tigers earlier this year because of a hamstring injury.FIBA cleared him to return to the NBA earlier this month before Portland cut ties and made him a free agent.Mills played at St. Mary’s in California and scored 20 points for Asutralia in the 2008 Olympics against the gold medal-winning U.S. team. He was drafted by the Blazers in 2009 and averaged 5.1 points and 1.5 assists in 74 NBA contests.
