Turner Benefiting from Iguodala Trade

For 76ers swingman Evan Turner, there really is a simple explanation why his scoring average has jumped from 9.4 to 14.3 points and his rebounding average from 5.8 to 7.3.

“Minutes, more responsibility, more opportunity,” the St. Joseph product said.

For 76ers coach Doug Collins, reasons behind the improvement for the third-year player and former No. 2 overall pick are a bit more complex.

“A big part, always with him, is when he’s in a good place mentally, he plays very well,” Collins said. “He might be our best competitor.”

Whatever the case, Turner clearly is benefiting from the departure of the traded Andre Iguodala. He entered Saturday off a 25-point outing and had reached double figures in eight straight games.
