The U.S Attorney’s Office reportedly has told the NBA’s players association that it is conducting an investigation into the organization.

NBPA Executive Director was informed Friday of the investigation while Attorney’s Office has subpoenaed documents, according to Bloomberg News and ESPN.

“The NBPA will cooperate fully with the government’s investigation,” the union said in a statement.

The investigation comes on the heels of the union’s push to oust president Derek Fisher, who refused to resign after he had asked for a formal review of the organization’s finances last week.

Also, Yahoo!Sports and Bloomberg reported earlier this week allegations of nepotism against Hunter, whose has two family members working at the union office. Also, one of his daughters is a special counsel for the union while his son is a principle at an investment firm that manages money for the union.

All told, Bloomberg reported Hunter’s family members and their businesses have been paid almost $4.8 million by the union since 2001, according to public records.
