UCLA suspends F Nelson a second time
UCLA forward Reeves Nelson was suspended from the men’s basketball team for the second time this season.
Bruins coach Ben Howland said Nelson was suspended indefinitely for behavior that is “totally uncharacteristic of what we want from a UCLA basketball player representing this history and tradition.”
Nelson was suspended for one game earlier this season and then missed the team’s flight to the Maui Invitational.
He was the leading returning scorer and rebounder for UCLA after averaging 13.9 points and 9.1 rebounds last season.
The 6-foot-8 junior forward is averaging 5.7 points this season and was benched for the second half of Saturday’s game against Texas.
