UConn G Boatright, mother could sue NCAA
Connecticut Huskies freshman guard Ryan Boatright could be taking legal action against the NCAA.Boatright, who has been suspended twice this season due to eligibility investigations, was just cleared to play by the NCAA. However, a lawyer representing his mother says the family is considering a case against the NCAA after it claimed that Boatright’s mother took $8,000 in impermissible benefits from at least two sources. The lawyer says the claims are false and that the benefits were from friends of the family with “no expectation of repayment or reciprocation.”Boatright has missed nine games this season and is repaying $4,500 in benefits. He will be in uniform against Notre Dame Sunday.Boatright is averaging 10.2 points and 3.5 assists in 10 games for the Huskies.
