UConn’s Calhoun has surgery for broken hip

Connecticut basketball coach Jim Calhoun had successful surgery late Saturday night to repair a broken left hip, the Hartford Courant reported Sunday.

Calhoun, 70, broke the hip in a biking accident near his summer home in Madison, Conn., on Saturday afternoon.

He will remain at the UConn Health Center for a few days before returning home.
