Tradition is back in session for two of college basketball’s elite programs.
North Carolina announced on Monday plans to resume its men’s basketball series with Kentucky.
The two powerhouse, tradition-rich programs played for 12 consecutive seasons, but did not meet this year.
The schools agreed to a two-year, home-and-home series beginning in the 2013-14 season. The Tar Heels host the Wildcats first in Chapel Hill next season on Dec. 14 before traveling to Lexington the following season.
UNC leads the series 22-13 and has won six of the past nine.
Tar Heels coach Roy Williams calls it “a great series for both schools and our fans as well as college basketball fans period.”
