UNC’s Dexter Strickland tweets he can play

Good news for North Carolina basketball fans: senior guard Dexter Strickland says he’s back and ready to go.
Strickland, who tore his right ACL during a game against Virginia Tech last January and had reconstructive surgery, tweeted Monday afternoon:
Finally cleared to play!! #LetsGoo
Strickland was last season’s starting shooting guard and backup point guard. He averaged 7.5 points and 1.3 steals before his injury.
Since UNC lost point guard Kendall Marshall and three other starters to the NBA draft, this news that Strickland is healthy and can start practicing is great for the development of this year’s team.
“I expect to play point guard way more than I did last year,” Strickland told reporters in June. “And that’s one of the things I’ve been focusing on a lot, just watching film on different players, trying to get that point guard mindset.”
