Virtus Bologna offers Bryant $2.5 million
NBA superstar Kobe Bryant has been offered $2.5 million for one month by Italian League club Virtus Bologna, Sportando.net reported Tuesday.
According to the report, the deal would amount to more than $1 million after taxes and is the team’s final offer.
The report said the possibility of Bryant playing in Italy – even for just one month – has forced the Italian League to postpone configuring the 2011-12 team scheduled. Virtus would play eight games in the first month of the season should Bryant sign with the team.
Last weekend, Virtus offered $6.7 million for the season. Bryant reportedly countered with $15 million, which team executives admitted they could not afford.
Bryant is in Italy on Wednesday and Thursday as part of a Nike tour. Virtus executive Claudio Sabatini is hoping to meet with him.
