The Warriors front office and coaching staff has been talking in circles for two weeks about what to do with the roster opening and remaining $294,000 under the salary cap, and they finally made a decision Friday.

Malcolm Thomas, a 6-foot-9, 223-pound, 24-year-old forward signed a 10-day contract with the Warriors on Friday afternoon and was in uniform by the night’s game against Houston.

“I thought he was in the discussion for being the best big man at the summer league,” head coach Mark Jackson said. “He is very active on defense and can knock down a mid-range shot on offense. He’s a big-time rebounder and defender, who knows how to move and block shots.

“I compare him to a smaller version of Larry Sanders.”
