Selection Sunday for the 2013 NCAA men’s basketball tournament is just 90 days away. USA TODAY Sports college basketball reporters Nicole Auerbach and Eric Prisbell examine the early-season games and developments that could have an impact on who makes the field of 68:
FIVE WINS THAT HELP
Results that will strengthen a team’s case on Selection Sunday:
Colorado 60, Baylor 58, Nov. 16: Colorado gave the Pac-12 its first good win against a major-conference foe in at least a year, taking down Baylor in Charleston. Though the Bears have been up and down, this win will likely hold up as a good, non-conference signature win for the Buffs.
Oklahoma State 76, North Carolina State 56, Nov. 18: N.C. Results that will weaken a team’s case on Selection Sunday:
Chaminade 86, Texas 73, Nov. 19:The most alarming sign out of this one was that Texas coach Rick Barnes said the score was not indicative of how lopsided the contest was against the Division II Silverswords. Ouch.
Cal Poly 70, UCLA 68, Nov. … [For more on What you should know with Selection Sunday 90 days away, click here.]
