Will Clippers make a move before the deadline?

Are the Clippers pursuing Boston’s Kevin Garnett?
That doesn’t appear to be the case – at least at the moment. Are they considering a big-ticket item (pun intended) to up their championship chances? They’re open to exploring any number of possibilities but sensitive to altering the team chemistry that has been so tremendous, according to a person with knowledge of the team’s plans.
In the wake of a Sporting News report indicating that the Clippers contacted Boston about the possibility of acquiring the Celtics forward, the person told USA TODAY Sports that there have been no talks between the two teams. The person requested anonymity because of the private nature of trade discussions.
Garnett has a no-trade clause, but the premise of this potential proposal goes as such: the 36-year-old lives in the Southern California town of Malibu in the offseason and may welcome the opportunity to contend with Chris Paul & Co. He signed a three-year deal worth approximately $35 million in the summer.
The idea that the Clippers are contemplating possible solutions in light of their recent slide is entirely believable. They’ve lost six of their past eight games entering tonight’s game at Washington, seven of them coming with Chris Paul sidelined by a deep knee bruise that is marring what was an otherwise-magnificent season.
The reported pieces being proposed – young point guard Eric Bledsoe and veteran small forward Caron Butler – are the same ones I was told would be in the mix when the Clippers were quietly considering the idea of trading for then-Memphis small forward Rudy Gay (who was dealt to Toronto on Thursday). Paul is not expected to play Monday at Washington, but could return this week as they play at Orlando on Wednesday, Miami on Friday and the Knicks on Sunday.
The Clippers are in a bit of a quandary on this front, as they are wary of altering the vibe that has been so successful but also pride themselves on doing everything necessary to keep their newfound winning ways.
