With Amar’e out, Knicks look to Wallace?

With the Knicks’ frontcourt becoming more and more depleted, Coach Mike Woodson could need significant playing time in the team’s season opener Thursday from the most unlikely source on the roster: Rasheed Wallace.
Woodson suggested he could use Wallace, one of the few healthy frontcourt players, off the bench when the Knicks face the Nets at Barclays Center.
The Knicks need low-post defenders. Amar’e Stoudemire is out for at least the next two weeks with a ruptured cyst in his left knee. Several published reports on Friday said Stoudemire would seek a second opinion on the knee, underscoring the uncertainty of when he would be back and underlining the need for Wallace to contribute.
That leaves Woodson looking to Wallace. “I thought Rasheed looked pretty good,” Woodson said. “I think he’s going to be fine. He has to get in a little more game shape, and that’s expected.”
