With No Stars, Nuggets still a Top Team?

The Nuggets’ marketing slogan should be, “This team ain’t bad.” And that’s good.

They are among the top six in the Western Conference with the Thunder, the Mavericks, the Lakers, the Clippers and the Grizzlies.

(George) Karl told me the Nuggets will be emphasizing defense more — it couldn’t be emphasized less with Melo (Carmelo Anthony) The Matador — and a faster, passing offense (see Melo). Carmelo Anthony, a world-class scorer, believed in me first, shoot second and everything else last.

NBA clubs thought Josh Kroenke and Masai Ujiri were two rubes who’d fallen off a turnip truck, but the Missourian and the Nigerian, as a team, have transformed the Nuggets into a real team.

The “superstars” don’t want to play in Our Dusty Old Cowtown because we have a stock show. Their loss.
