Lazar Hayward, signed by the Timberwolves as a free agent on Monday, Dec. 31, could see action Wednesday night at Utah with the Wolves down to three healthy guards — Luke Ridnour, J.J. Barea and Alexey Shved.

Wolves coach Rick Adelman said he might use the 6-foot-6 Hayward, primarily a small forward, as a backup guard with Ricky Rubio remaining in the Twin Cities because of back spasms.
