HOUSTON — So when Zach Randolph, the lone member of a very good Memphis Grizzlies team to make the All-Star roster, faced questions from the media on Friday, some of them had little to do with the team itself, but on his desire to remain a part of it.

After Memphis traded Rudy Gay in a three-team deal a few weeks back, the general consensus was it was trimming payroll for the sake of trimming payroll. Not to get better, but to get cheaper.

That then raises the question for Randolph: Do you want to stay with the team?

“I definitely do. I love the city of Memphis and the people in it,” he said. “I love interacting with the kids and the charity. That’s my home. I just bought a house there and my daughters go to school. I’m always going to be in Memphis, if they trade me or if they don’t. That’s my home.”
